last night i was asked to watch spaghetti westerns and cook eggs with a man in his fifties. the truth of it is, people who are older have much more interesting things to say and much better ideas than the rest of us. this man is the type of man who really would, love eggs. knowledgeable about politics, a smart ass, a lover of poetry and good writing. creator of on-the-spot haikus, without the use of his fingers to count a typical 5 7 5 stanza.
"i remember being at the super market, this hard ass mean lookin hispanic dad was with his son standing in front of one of those little 25 cent gumball machines with the spiral shoot. the dad asked his son, ok what color gumball are you gonna wish for? the boy says azul. they put in a quarter and a god damn blue gumball comes spiraling down. the dad takes it away, looks down at his son and his son is like, getting all teary eyed. the dad hesitates, kneels down and points at his cheek and the son kisses him then takes the gumball and starts chompin. if you dont see the beauty in that shit you aint really livin baby"

perhaps the workings of the human body is an analogy for the workings of the universe.

"works of art are of an infinite loneliness and with nothing so little to be reached as with criticism. only love can grasp and hold and be just toward them. consider yourself and your feeling right every time with regard to every such argumentation, discussion or introduction; if you are wrong, after all, the natural growth of your inner life will lead you slowly to other insights. leave to your opinions their own quiet undisturbed development, which, like all progress, must come deep within and cannot be pressed or hurried by anything." rilke
"being an artist means not reckoning and counting, but ripening like the tree which does not force its sap and stands confident in the storms of spring without the fear that after them may come no summer. it does come. but it comes only to the patient who are there as though eternity lay before them, so unconcernedly still and wide. I learn it daily. I learn it with pain to which i am grateful: patience is everything" rilke

last night was a wild night. it is rot rally here in austin and there are motorcycles everywhere and it is a beautiful thing. so is dancing at the honky tonk bar. i met some new friends and we took drinking to another level which is why i have been laying in bed all day today. i woke up this morning with blood on my feet which is super gross and makes me wonder what happened exactly.
this movie about serge was quite sweet and inspiring to me. poems poems poems, i could never take enough screenshots to remember them all.
